SPOOK: Now I know this can be a hard question to answer on the spot, but who are some of the people that inspire you all creatively?
Emily: I really like that we all share an interest in things that we a little more abstract, for example, we all like really bands like Aphex Twin and Flying Lotus, I think we all really relate to a good groove and a good dance song.
Stella Mozgawa (drums/keys): And something that is challenging as well, maybe not intentionally, but where you feel like you’re experiencing something new and it’s not the same ingredient all the time.
Emily: And we all get to go into girly mode together too and listen to Stella’s personal favourite, The Cranberries.
Stella: I LOVE THE CRANBERRIES!!
Emily: Or Enya! If you think about music that’s kind of dark like Depeche Mode or New Order, they have really beautiful minor key melodies which is something that we all really really like. We all appreciate a really good melody. I really like that everyone has a great ears for a good hook, or finding those songs that you just want to repeat over and over again. We love hearing each other’s favourite songs.
